The 12th WTO Ministerial Conference will take place in Geneva from 30 November to 3 December 2021. The WTO is the centrepiece of the multilateral rules-based trading system but today the Organization faces deep challenges.
The European Union has been working hard to ensure important and meaningful multilateral outcomes at the upcoming Ministerial Conference, in particular on fisheries subsidies, trade and health, agriculture and on the launch of a process of reforms on all three core functions of the Organization, namely its negotiating function; its monitoring/deliberating function; and dispute settlement reform. The Commission will also present the state of play of the negotiations on the various plurilateral initiatives within the WTO including on Services Domestic Regulation, E-commerce, and Investment Facilitation, as well as results in Trade & Environment.
The purpose of this meeting is to exchange views on the progress of the negotiations in the run up to the Ministerial Conference and on the possible outcomes.
