Tripartite Social Summit, 22 March 2023

The main theme of the tripartite social summit will be “Giving the right answers to Europe’s competitiveness challenges – how to make Europe the place to be for industrial investments creating growth and quality jobs?“.
Participants will intervene on the following three topics:
restoring a level playing field, ensuring a necessary competitive transformation in all industrial sectors and delivering an economically sound and just transition
the Skills Agenda: mobilising the European Year of Skills to address recruitment problems and bridge the gap in access to skills and skills training
making the Single Market more resilient and pursuing an ambitious trade agenda to build a highly competitive social market economy that delivers for all. Assessment of the impact of the war on the current socio-economic situation
The summit – which will commence at 15.00 – will be followed by a press conference which is due to start at around 17.10.
Background
What is the Tripartite Social Summit?
The Tripartite Social Summit is a forum for dialogue between the EU institutions at president level and the European social partners at top management level. The summit is co-chaired by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission.
The participating European-level social partners include:
- BusinessEurope
- the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC)
- SGI Europe (enterprises with services of general interest)
- SMEunited (association of crafts and SMEs in Europe)
- Eurocadres
For the rotating presidency, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, will attend. The employment ministers from Sweden and the upcoming presidency countries (Spain and Belgium) will also take part in the meeting.
